Add another branch row approximately 2-3 rounds lower.

Repeat once more near the bottom.

Bow strip: Ch 18.

R1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across.

R2-R50: Ch 1, turn, sc across.

FO.

Fold both ends toward the center to form two large loops.

Wrap matching yarn tightly around the center several times.

Secure firmly.

Bow Tails

Make 4-6 long crochet cords in tan.

For each cord:

Ch approximately 65-85.

Sl st back across the entire chain.

FO.

Attach the cords behind the bow center and allow them to hang between the ornaments.

Main Hanging Cord

Using tan:

Ch approximately 70.

Sl st in every chain for a strong rounded cord.

Fold the cord into a loop and sew both ends securely behind the upper arrangement.

Assembly

  1. Place the large bow at the top.
  2. Arrange several dark-green evergreen sprigs directly beneath it.
  3. Position the largest ornaments through the center of the swag.
  4. Place the Christmas trees at different heights.
  5. Add smaller baubles between the larger pieces.
  6. Fill open spaces with berry clusters, leaves and pinecones.
  7. Allow several tan hanging cords to remain visible between the ornaments.
  8. Sew every piece firmly to neighboring pieces and the hidden central cords.
  9. Add more evergreen sprigs behind the lower ornaments to create a tapered shape.
Important: Assemble the entire arrangement on a table before sewing. The swag should be widest near the upper-middle section and gradually become narrower toward the bottom.

Suggested Ornament Layout

  • Top: oversized tan bow + berry cluster + evergreen
  • Upper left: green Christmas tree
  • Upper right: large red snowflake bauble
  • Center: cream botanical bauble
  • Middle sides: plaid baubles + green bauble
  • Lower center: second green Christmas tree
  • Fillers: berries, pinecones, leaves and evergreen sprigs

Finishing

  1. Check that every ornament is firmly attached.
  2. Weave in all visible yarn ends.
  3. Shape the stuffed baubles with your hands.
  4. Spread the evergreen sprigs outward.
  5. Adjust the bow loops so both sides are balanced.
  6. Separate the hanging cords so the ornaments remain visible.
  7. Steam-block only if appropriate for your chosen yarn.
  8. Hang the finished decoration and make final adjustments.
Display idea: Hang the finished crochet swag from a wooden cabinet knob, interior door, wall hook or covered front door for a warm handmade Christmas look.
